Chilean needle grass has been proclaimed as one of twenty Weeds of National Significance (WoNS) in Australia. A national strategic plan has been developed facilitate awareness and management of this species. The plan is available on line at www.weeds.org.au

The Victorian Department of Primary Industries (DPI) is the lead agency responsible for the implementation of the national strategy. Contact Linda Iaconis (National WoNS Coordinator: Chilean needle grass) via email or phone on (03) 9785 0111.

Other organisations involved in the implementation of actions from the national strategy include NSW Agriculture, Environment ACT, SA Animal and Plant Control Commission, Victoria University of Technology, RMIT, University of New England, Rural City of Wangaratta, and Indigo Shire Council.
