Detailed maps of lantana distribution throughout Queensland and New South Wales have been developed using satellite imagery, paired with a predictive computer model.
The regional scale mapping information provided through this system will detect lantana down to a 100 m² pixel area with approximately 80 percent accuracy.
Mapping data is available to key stakeholders to encourage better strategic management of lantana, for the protection of important environmental, economic and social assets.

The Lantana Best Practice Manual and Decision Support Tool has recently been released following a four year Australian Government funded research project.
Information collected from eleven trial sites established throughout Queensland and New South Wales was used to determine the most effective and efficient sequences of integrated control to achieve specified management outcomes.
The new resource provides a comprehensive guide to lantana control in Australia and includes an electronic Decision Support Tool to enable land managers to tailor control programs to their individual situations.

The Plan to Protect Environmental Assets from Lantana was developed to coordinate Australia’s response to lantana invasion in native ecosystems.
This plan, developed by researchers from the NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water, in collaboration with the Lantana WoNS Program, provides a framework for the prioritisation of management investment toward those species and ecosystems most at risk.
